  • continuing support of residents and developers of resident-involved housing. Through 2001, provided assistance to residents and developers at over 60 developments, from 3 units to over 1,000 units.

Non-Profit Management

Executive Director - Association for Resident Control of Housing, 1992 - 1998.

Administering and directing all elements of planning, fundraising, curriculum development, training, supervision and program development. Personally provide consulting services to over three dozen housing developments. Produce quarterly newsletter. Increased income stream by factor of ten, initiated several new programs and annual conference attracting over 200 resident leaders from around New England.

Assistant Executive Director for Access Programs - Tri-City Community Action Program, Malden, Massachusetts, 1989 - 1992

Administered five anti-poverty programs which addressed homelessness, affordable housing, political empowerment, access to legal representation, access to government benefits and landlord and tenant rights. Supervised paid staff of 16 and 15 volunteers. Administered budget of approximately $500,000 per year and won new funding from a variety of private sources totaling $50,000.

Community Organizer and Community Organizing Coordinator - Tri-CAP, 1987-1989

Recruited, developed leadership and provided technical assistance to tenant groups in public and private housing. Supervised three other community organizers. Won a variety of concessions from landlords, housing authorities and the Department of Public Welfare.

Director, Middletowners Saving Energy Resources - City of Middletown, Conn., 1980 - 1981

Program educated over 5000 Middletown residents and distributed $500,000 worth of energy conservation equipment. Supervised one employee and 12 volunteers, purchased equipment, produced energy conservation booklet and led public workshops.

 

Computer Instruction and Information Management Systems

Independent Software Consultant - Greater Boston Area, 1982 - 1986

Developed and improved Management Information Systems and Device Drivers for Doble Engineering, Digital Equipment Corporation and American Science and Engineering. Used C, Pascal, BASIC, COBOL, Assembler and 1022 on the IBM PC, VAX, Eclipse, Nova and other systems.

Computer Programming Instructor - Chinese Economic Development Council, 1981 - 1982

Taught BASIC, COBOL and Pascal to immigrants and refugees from a variety of nations, with educational backgrounds ranging from fourth grade to a Ph.D. in mathematics.

Computer Programmer - Philadelphia Health Management Corporation, 1978 - 1979

Designed and implemented Management Information Systems for programs including Ambulance dispatch, Emergency Prevention, Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment (EPSDT) and studies of morbidity and mortality.
